How to Apply for Financial Aid Undergraduate Students
Recommended Undergraduate Priority Application Deadlines
FAFSA, CSS PROFILE, & Federal Tax Returns:
First Year/Transfer Students: February 1
Continuing Students: March 31
Special Note for the Fall 2024 Term: For the 24-25 cycle our typical recommended aid application deadlines are more flexible. Complete the FAFSA & CSS Profile and submit tax returns as soon as possible.
To make the application process as easy as possible, please answer the questions below for your specific application requirements. If you are only seeking federal financial aid, simply complete the FAFSA.
►STEP 1: Submit Your FAFSA
Georgetown’s FAFSA school code is 001445.
The FAFSA collects biographical and financial information including your family’s adjusted gross income, assets, number of people in the household, and number in college. This determines your federal financial aid eligibility (loans, grants, and work-study). It may be helpful to have a copy of your and your parents’ 2022 federal tax returns if you are applying for 2024-25 academic year or 2023 federal tax returns if you are applying for 2025-26 academic year.
►STEP 2: Submit Your CSS Profile
Georgetown’s CSS school code is 5244.
The CSS Profile collects more in-depth biographical and financial information from both natural parents. This information includes home equity, business assets, and family expenses such as private school tuition for younger siblings and paid medical expenses. The CSS Profile, the FAFSA, along with our review of your and your parent(s)’ federal tax returns, determines your Georgetown University (GU) Scholarship eligibility.
►STEP 3: Tax Documents to the College Board’s IDOC Service
Some applicants may be required to submit taxes and/or additional documentation to the College Board’s IDOC Service. You will receive an email communication from the College Board’s IDOC Service providing you with instructions on how to submit any additional requirements.
►STEP 4: Review Your Financial Aid Decision
First Year/Transfer Undergraduate
If your financial aid application is complete and you are admitted, you will receive a financial aid decision in the mail starting the last week in March. This information will also be available for viewing on your MyAccess account. In MyAccess, you can review and accept, reduce, or decline components of your financial aid award. Once you decide to enroll at Georgetown, there are a few additional steps that you need to take.
Continuing Undergraduate
You will be notified mid-June via email when your financial aid award is available for your review in MyAccess. In MyAccess, you can accept, reduce, or decline components of your financial aid award. Review these additional steps to make sure that your financial aid will disburse on time.
