You may be required to take certain additional actions after accepting your financial aid package to obtain the funds offered in your award letter.
For example, if your award letter indicates you are eligible for a Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan, there are several additional steps you must complete to obtain loan proceeds from this federal program.
Please read your award letter carefully and follow any necessary steps to obtaining your award.
Timing of Payments
It can take up to six weeks to apply for and receive disbursements under some financial aid programs, so you should plan to arrive in at Georgetown with sufficient funds to pay for at least two months of living expenses.
All funds administered by the Office of Student Financial Services will disburse no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of classes.
If you accept the aid offered to you, the Office of Student Financial Services will monitor the disbursement of the funds you accepted and will attempt to notify you through the regular mail or email if you have not completed all requirements for disbursement of the funds you are eligible to receive.
You also should review your student billing account on a regular basis to track financial aid disbursements. Please contact your counselor if you have any questions.
