Students can apply for the following named gift-funded GU & NHS Scholarships by completing the standard applications
for need-based financial aid at Georgetown.
Many donors of named GU & NHS Scholarships take a personal interest in
the students who receive grants funded by their gifts. Students selected
for these awards may be asked to write a letter of appreciation to the donor, or
to attend events to acknowledge the generosity of the donor. Recipients
are strongly encouraged to participate in these activities to thank the donors
to our financial aid programs and to help Georgetown raise additional funds to
meet the financial need of our undergraduates.
All of the following named GU & NHS Scholarships are awarded on the basis of
demonstrated financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

The Accenture GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Georgetown University alumni working for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) to
assist undergraduate and graduate business students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Altman GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Roger Altman to assist
undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid, with preference in the selection of recipients to be given to
eligible African-American students.
The Alumni Club of Metro Washington, D.C. GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by members of the GU Alumni Club of Metro Washington, D.C. to assist undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Amaturo Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Joseph & Wini Amaturo to assist
undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid.
The Ambro-Ciarrocchi GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Thomas L. Ambro (C'72, L'75), and Diane F.(I'76), and Charles J. Ciarrocchi, Jr. to
assist a student who, after spending a minimum of one semester at Georgetown, returns to the University with sufficient financial need to qualify for the first time for Georgetown scholarship aid, or whose level of financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid increases
after their first year at Georgetown.
The Stephen C. and H. Max Ammerman Memorial GU & NHS Scholarships
In the spring of 1972, the Ammerman family established a scholarship in tribute to their son, Stephen C. Ammerman, who was killed in Thailand in February 1972. The scholarship was renamed in 1989 to honor also the memory of
Stephen's father, the late H. Max Ammerman. Scholarships are awarded to
students in each of the undergraduate schools who demonstrate financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference in selection to students with an
interest in Asian affairs or languages, or Judaic
traditions, or who are from Washington, D.C.
The Arthur Andersen & Co. Alumni GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to seniors in the McDonough School of Business who are studying accounting and who demonstrate
academic excellence and financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. The
scholarship was donated by GU alumni who worked at Arthur Andersen & Co.
The Anonymous GU Scholarships
These scholarships were donated anonymously on behalf of the donor and his
family with the intent to help strengthen and support Georgetown's commitment to
funding scholarships for the "middle class". These scholarships
assist undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for GU scholarship aid,
with preference in selection given to eligible students who can pay at least 10%
of the cost of tuition but need assistance to meet the full cost of attendance,
who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
The Antonacci Biology GU Scholarship
This scholarship supports students from New Jersey who are majoring in biology in Georgetown College and who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Armas Family NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Jose (Pepe) Armas, MD and Ada Armas, MD to
assist undergraduates in the School of Nursing & Health Studies who demonstrate
financial need for NHS scholarship aid.
The Atara GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Gil Ashley Tenzer, B'84 to assist eligible
undergraduates at the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

The Raymond F. Baby GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Mr. Raymond F. Baby (College 1895) to
assist Georgetown undergraduates in the College who are from Jefferson County, West Virginia and Washington County, Maryland
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. If there are no
eligible students from Jefferson County, WV or Washington County, MD then the
scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate in the College who demonstrates
financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who is from a town in either West
Virginia or Maryland that is nearest to these counties.
The Jon M. Baker GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1986 by Jon M. Baker to provide assistance for students in Georgetown College and the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Benjamin Banneker GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by GU students in honor of Benjamin Banneker for the benefit of disadvantaged students from Washington, D.C. for study at any undergraduate school at Georgetown. It is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Barcia de Leiva GU Scholarship
This endowed scholarship fund was donated by Ms. Anne-Marie Barcia de Leiva
(F'76) to provide assistance to undergraduates in the School of Foreign Service
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Stephen F. Barranco, M.D. Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1989 by the family and friends of Dr. Stephen F. Barranco
(Med '70). The scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student in the College. The student selected will be pursuing a premedical curriculum and demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Josephine and Dane Barse GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1994 by Dr. Francis E. Barse, M.D. (EX '48, M'50) in honor of his parents. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid
who are majoring in Italian.
The John P. Beall GU Scholarship
This scholarship provides assistance for male students in Georgetown College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Father Vincent Beatty Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to create a permanent living memorial to Father Vincent. The
scholarship provides aid to undergraduate students from Georgetown Prep and other Jesuit secondary schools who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Berardino Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Joseph and Gail Berardino to assist an
undergraduate in the McDonough School of Business who demonstrates financial
need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The William and Marjorie Berkley GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate in the College who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
It was donated by William and Marjorie Berkley.
The Mary Mouakad Blatty GU Scholarship
Mr. William P. Blatty (C'50) donated this scholarship in memory of his
mother. The scholarship assists students from The Heights School in Potomac,
Maryland whodemonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Boland Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by members of the Boland family to indicate in a tangible way their sincere appreciation to the Jesuits for their love and sacrifice, and for the Roman Catholic ideals imparted to their children. Scholarships are awarded to
undergraduates in the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate financial
need for Georgetown scholarship aid who are actively involved in Georgetown student life
and attended Catholic high schools.
Preference in selection is given to eligible students who are of Irish descent.
The Borders Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid to further the education of a junior or senior who
best exemplifies a balanced pursuit of academic excellence and involvement in
volunteer opportunities at Georgetown University. The scholarship was
donated by Mr. & Mrs. Thomas P. Borders.
The Jack & Laurian Bowlin Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Georgetown alumni Robert M. (B'75) and John D. (B'72) Bowlin in honor of their parents. It provides assistance to undergraduates in the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Laura and Walter O. Briggs, Jr. GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student in the College who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The scholarship was donated by the late Mr. & Mrs. Walter O. Briggs, Jr.
The Edith C. Brophy GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established under the will of the late Ms. Edith C. Brophy to assist deserving students at the University who, without such assistance, might not be able to obtain

This scholarship was donated by Raymond and Jeannette Brophy to assist

The Thomas A. Cantwell GU Scholarship
The late Mr. Thomas Cantwell established this scholarship through a 1971 bequest in
his will. It provides support for undergraduates who demonstrate financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Claire Z. Carey, Ph.D. GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by MBNA America Bank, N.A. to provide assistance to students who attend the College, whose native country is not the United States of America, who are Catholic, and who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. This scholarship honors Professor Carey's service as an Associate Dean of the College, 1985-2000.
The Emily Chen Carrera GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Emily Chen Carrera (B'88) and Christopher Carrera to provide
assistance to outstanding undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The 1111 Cawley/Murphy GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mr. Charles M. Cawley (C'62) and
others to honor the memory of Christopher M. Murphy, son of John Peter
and Gael Murphy and nephew of Charles M. Cawley, who died at a young age while
still in college. These scholarships provide assistance to undergraduates who are from the states of Delaware, Maine,
Maryland and/or New Jersey who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
At least one or more recipients each year come from each state, with at least
two recipients each year who are in Georgetown College.
The Civitas Foundation GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by the Civitas Foundation to assist students in the College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
and are from southern New Jersey. John Quigley, The President and Founder of the Civitas Foundation,
is a 1976 graduate of the College.
The Class of 1964 GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by members of The Georgetown College Class of 1964
to assist students in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid.
The Class of 1984 GU Scholarship
The Georgetown Class of 1984 established this scholarship to provide assistance to undergraduates who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, participate in extra-curricular activities at Georgetown, and who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Hillary Rodham Clinton GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1997 by Robert Wagner (C'45, F'48) as an expression of his admiration and respect for then First Lady of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton. The scholarship is awarded with preference
in selection given to female undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Coca-Cola GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to main campus undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The scholarship fund was donated by The Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, GA.
The Coca-Cola NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to undergraduates in
the School of Nursing & Health Studies who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

This scholarship was established in 2005 to provide assistance to

with preference in selection of a recipient to be given to eligible students in

The Florence Dailey GU & NHS Scholarships
Through the benevolence of the late Miss Florence Dailey of Rochester New
York, dozens of scholarships ranging in value from $500 to more than the cost of full-time tuition are
awarded each year to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Dalebroux-Drayna Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The fund was donated by Jeffrey Dalebroux and Valerie Drayna Dalebroux.
The Robert C. Danaher Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by the family of Robert C. Danaher to assist students in the McDonough School of Business or the College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference
in selection given to eligible students who are from Connecticut or Ohio.
The Darnall GU Scholarship
The late Mrs. Henry Darnall donated this scholarship in 1809 for the maintenance and education of an orphan or a poor child in Georgetown College
who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Cora and John H. Davis GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to benefit undergraduates who due to
special family circumstances require supplemental Georgetown scholarship assistance in order to further their studies.
Awards are made to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid due to special family circumstances.
The Michael and Margaret DeLucia GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist undergraduates in the College who
demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid to attend Georgetown University.
The fund was donated by Dr. Frank DeLucia in honor of his parents, Michael and
Margaret DeLucia.
The Eileen Desmond NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1995 through a bequest in the will of
the late Eileen Desmond of Washington, DC to assist student nurses who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Don Donahue Family GU Scholarships
These scholarships were established to provide current use and endowed
awards in perpetuity to students at Georgetown College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

The Donald J. (C'47) and Carol A. Donahue Scholarship was established by the
late Mr. Donahue and his second wife Carol to assist undergraduates in their junior or senior year

selection is given to eligible children or grandchildren of Georgetown alumni
The John F. Donahue Memorial GU Scholarship
The John F. Donahue Memorial Scholarship was established by the family and
friends of John F. Donahue, Sr. (C'22, L'25) and is awarded to students in Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The John F. and Florence J. Donahue Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by the late Donald J. Donahue (C'47) and his
brother John F. Donahue, Jr. (C'58) in memory of their parents. It is awarded to students in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Mary M. Donahue Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by the late Donald J. Donahue (C'47) in memory of his first wife, Mary. The scholarship is awarded
to an undergraduate who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship
aid, with preference in selection to an eligible female student born in the United States, of African, Hispanic, or American Indian ancestry.
The Walter J. Donnelly GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Ambassador Walter J. Donnelly, by his family, to provide assistance for students in the School of Foreign Service,
the McDonough School of Business, or the College who demonstrate financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid. Preference in selection is given to students of Hispanic ancestry.
The Clare Donoghue GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Connecticut applicant to Georgetown College who
demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference in
selection where possible to a student who has demonstrated a strong commitment
to helping others in their community, preferably senior citizens.
The Donohoe Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by GU alumni Suzanne O'Leary Donohoe, C'92 and
Matthew Beckwith Donohoe, C'92 to assist undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Donovan GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by David E. and Nancy S. Donovan to assist undergraduates in the Walsh School of Foreign Service who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Patricia Duff GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established at the request of Patricia Duff by the Revlon Foundation to
assist undergraduates in the School of Foreign Service who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Duffy GU Scholarship (1933)
Mr. Charles G. Duffy, Jr. established this scholarship in 1933 to benefit students in Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Charles G. Duffy, Jr. and Virginia Leahy Duffy GU Scholarship (2000)
This scholarship was donated in 2000 in memory of Charles and Virginia Duffy by their son Mr. Charles Duffy, III (C'74) to assist undergraduate students at Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference in selection given to
eligible students in the College who are a member of the GU crew team, or
eligible students in the College who are from the Buffalo, New York area.
The Durairaj, Florenzan, Garcia & Gates GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by three members of the GU Class of 2000 and
one member of the GU Class of 1999 to
provide assistance to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference in selection to be given to eligible
students who are in the McDonough School of Business.
The Dyer GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1919 by Mrs. Irene Dyer Spangler of
Roanoke, Virginia to perpetuate the memory of her brother, the Reverend Marcus Dyer.
The scholarship is awarded to juniors and seniors in Georgetown College who
demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who are from
Washington, D.C..

The Dr. Valerie Earle Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a gift under the will of the late Dr.
Valerie Earle to provide grant assistance to undergraduates who demonstrate
financial need. Dr. Earle was the first woman
appointed to the liberal arts faculty at Georgetown. The native
Texan arrived at GU in 1955 after having taught at San Francisco State College
and the University of Alabama. Dr. Earle quickly established her
courses on constitutional law as core elements of Georgetown's government
curriculum. When a GU Faculty Senate was created in 1965, Dr. Earle
drafted its first bylaws; a year later she was elected as its first president.
Elected chairperson of the Government Department in 1972, she was the first
woman to head a major department of Georgetown University. Dr. Earle
retired from full-time teaching at GU in 1986 but continued to teach part-time
despite being confined to a wheelchair. From her first classes until
her death at the age of 85 in August 2004, Professor Emeritus Earle profoundly
impacted Georgetown in its growth from a small institution to a major national
university. As a last act of loyalty and devotion to Georgetown, Dr.
Earle left in her will a portion of her estate for the establishment of a
scholarship fund for students with financial need.
The Margaret Dammann Eisner and Elna Lindgren Breckenridge GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1997 by then Georgetown University President Leo O'Donovan, S.J., to honor the mothers of Michael and Jane Eisner: Margaret Dammann Eisner and Elna Lindgren Breckenridge, respectively. The
scholarship provides support to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown University scholarship assistance.
The Robert Enright Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Robert Enright by his family and his friends in the Georgetown Class of 1968. It is awarded to undergraduates in the College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference
in selection to eligible students who are graduates of Regis High School in New York City.

The James D. Farley Family GU Scholarship
The James D. Farley Family scholarship fund was established in honor of the donor's husband, James D. Farley, a graduate of the School of Foreign Service, Class of 1950. It provides assistance to undergraduates in the School of Foreign Service and the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Bryan and Eleanor Farrell GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1990 in memory of Bryan (L'31) and Eleanor Farrell for the benefit of undergraduates with demonstrated financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Camille Simione Fegyveresi GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1994 by Thomas B. Fegyveresi (F'66) to honor his beloved and beautiful wife, Camille, a joy and comfort as Hoya sweetheart, spouse, and mom. It is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Joseph and Margaret Fegyveresi GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1990 by Thomas B. Fegyveresi (F'66) in honor of his parents, Joseph and Margaret Fegyveresi, and is awarded to full-time, main campus, undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Michael E. Finnegan GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by friends and family in memory of Michael E.
Finnegan (B'79). It is awarded to a deserving member of the McDonough School of Business
who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. with preference
in selection given to an eligible student from the Chicago area (Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, and Lake Counties, Illinois)

The Charles T. Fisher, IV GU Scholarships
These scholarships were established by Ms. Mary Fisher in memory of her nephew, Charles T. Fisher, IV,
(B
'76). They are awarded to undergraduate students in Georgetown College and the McDonough School of Business
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. with preference
in selection given to eligible students from the greater Detroit metropolitan area, or the state of Michigan.
The Matthew O. Fitzmaurice GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist undergraduates in Georgetown College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
It was donated by Matthew O. Fitzmaurice (C'82, L'86).
The Flavin Family GU Scholarship
This endowed scholarship fund was donated by Mr. John Flavin, a Dallas, Texas businessman, with the primary goal of assisting eligible undergraduate students from the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area who demonstrate significant financial need. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for GU scholarship aid, with preference in selection to
eligible students of African-American or Hispanic descent who are residents of the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area, or to
eligible students from that area who have been proactive in their community on matters and issues affecting African-Americans or Hispanics. The scholarship fund supports an extremely generous financial aid package for the selected recipient, including grant aid to replace the typical student employment and loan components of a standard need-based Georgetown University financial aid award.
The Ford/EEOC GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Ford Motor Company and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
in compliance with a negotiated conciliation agreement between Ford and the EEOC. Scholarships are designated for
eligible minorities and women
pursuing undergraduate degrees who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid, with preference in selection given to eligible Ford employees, their spouses, and
their children.
The William J. Forsythe GU Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the General Motors (GM) Corporation and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
in compliance with a negotiated conciliation agreement between GM and the EEOC. Scholarships are designated for minorities and women pursuing undergraduate degrees
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference in selection to be given to
eligible GM employees, their spouses, and their children.

aid. with preference in selection to eligible Catholics majoring or minoring in Italian. Dr. Grieco's objective is to inspire students' interest in Italian culture and heritage.
The Charles E.W. Grinnell GU Scholarship
This fund was created under the will of the late Margaret Carey in honor of
Charles Grinnell to provide financial support to undergraduates who demonstrate
financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who are in the School of Foreign
Service and are interested in the study of diplomacy.
The Helen J. Grisebaum GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by James M. Grisebaum (C'56) in recognition of Helen J. Grisebaum's unflagging support of Georgetown and Jesuit education. The scholarship is awarded to a student in Georgetown College
who has demonstrated financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who has shown the achievement needed to be accepted to Georgetown, but who without such a scholarship grant would not be able to afford a Georgetown education.
The Maurice W. Grisebaum GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by James M. Grisebaum (C'56) to support
financially needy students who have displayed the exceptional potential needed
to attend Georgetown but who without a scholarship could not afford to enroll.
The scholarship is awarded to a student in the College who has demonstrated
financial need for GU scholarship aid.
The Georgetown 1980's Campaign GU Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established through the generous gifts of hundreds of University benefactors during the Georgetown fundraising campaign in support of student financial aid during the 1980s. Awards are made to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Gulentz GU Scholarship
Charles Gulentz (College 1890) founded this scholarship to cover expenses associated with room, board, and tuition at Georgetown University for Roman Catholics with demonstrated financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid. Preference in selection is given to eligible
Roman Catholics who are nominated by the Bishop of Pittsburg, or eligible Roman
Catholics from Pennsylvania.

This scholarship was established under the will of the late Mr. E. Kirby Hayes to provide support to worthy students of Georgetown University who are from Massachusetts, enroll in the College, and demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Patrick Healy GU Scholarship
This scholarship was named for the Rev. Patrick Healy, S.J., who is often
called Georgetown's second founder. In 1873, Father Healy became the
President of Georgetown and worked to turn what was then a small college into a
true university. Father Healy was the first African-American to serve as
president of a major American university. The scholarship was
established to promote diversity at Georgetown by providing assistance to
undergraduates who have demonstrated financial need for Georgetown scholarship
aid, with preference in selection to eligible minority students. It is
supported by donations from members of the GU African-American Alumni Advisory
Board and others.
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist undergraduates in the School of Nursing & Health Studies who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
Preference in selection of recipient is given to eligible candidates who intend to permanently reside in the United States after completion of their studies.
The fund was donated by the Hearst Foundation.
The John M. Heily GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to benefit students who could not otherwise participate in the Georgetown experience without financial aid. It is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship assistance.

The Reverend R. J. Henle GU Scholarship
Father Henle was president of Georgetown from 1969 to 1976. During these critical years he led Georgetown in an administrative reorganization which placed it on a sound educational and financial base. His career included distinguished contributions as a classicist, philosopher, and administrator. This scholarship was established as an expression of gratitude by his many students, friends, colleagues, and admirers and is
awarded to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Martha Grogan Hentz GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of the mother of the Rev. Otto
Hentz, S.J., of Georgetown. The fund assists undergraduates at Georgetown

The John T. Jackson (MSB'03) Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Dr. Robert Jackson & Ms. Linda Jackson in
memory of their son John T. Jackson (MSB'03) a Georgetown graduate who was
killed at age 22 in a terrible accident. It supports deserving
undergraduates in the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate
financial need for GU scholarship aid. In addition to the scholarship,
Georgetown's yearly sailing regatta is named to honor the former teammate who
sailed his freshman and sophomore years at Georgetown.
The Jesuit Community GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in the spirit of the Society of Jesus, one of whose concerns has been that a Jesuit education be available to young people of every economic background, but especially the poor. The scholarship is
awarded to undergraduates from the Washington, D.C. area who demonstrate
financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Margaret E. Jones GU Scholarship
The late Margaret E. Jones of Washington, D.C. established this scholarship in 1978. Her will specified that the scholarship was to be awarded to selected high school graduates to assist them to enroll and to study at Georgetown University. Awards are made to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Margaret Jordan NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Southern California Edison Company in honor of Margaret Jordan for her outstanding contribution, as Vice President for Health Care and Employee Services, to improving the company's health care program.
The fund is designed to encourage African-American women from the District of
Columbia to pursue nursing careers. Jordan, the first African-American graduate of the
GU School of Nursing and Health Studies,
was a member of the GU Class of 1964 and was awarded the Distinguished Alumna Award in 1995.
An eighth-generation Washingtonian, Jordan went on from Georgetown to earn a
master's degree in public health administration and planning from the University
of California at Berkley. During her long and distinguished career she
held positions with Southern California Edison, Kaiser Foundation Health Plans
in California, Georgia, and Texas, and in national and regional positions with
the United States Public Health Service. She was a founding member of the
National Black Nursing Association and served on the GUNHS Board of Visitors and
the GU Board of Regents. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving student in the School of Nursing and Health Studies
who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, and in
recognition of Ms. Jordan with a preference
in selection for an eligible African-American woman from the District of Columbia.

The Kaveny/Harvey GU Scholarship
The Thomas & Mary Kaveny and Leo & Eleanor Harvey GU Scholarship was donated
by Mr. Charles G. Duffy, III to assist undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
Preference in selection is given to eligible students with financial need who
are from the cities of Hornell, Lima, or Buffalo New York; if none, then to
eligible students with financial need who are from cities in New York state that
are west of Ithaca.
The Keane GU Scholarship
Joseph H. Keane (College 1893), established this scholarship to assist students with tuition expenses. This scholarship is awarded to
juniors and seniors in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid.
The Klauer Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an entering first-year student to Georgetown College
who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who is from one of the following five secondary schools and in the following preferential order 1) Northwestern Regional High School #7
in Barkhamstead, CT, 2) The Gilbert School in Winsted, CT, 3) The Trinity School
in New York City, NY, 4) Torrington High School in Torrington, CT, or 5) Housatonic Regional High School
in Falls Village, CT. Achievement and maintenance of at least a 3.2 grade point average in each academic year will automatically qualify the recipient for renewal of the scholarship through his/her senior year if (s)he continues to demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship assistance. If there are no eligible students from
the preferred secondary schools then the scholarship is given to an eligible
student in the College who is from Connecticut. The scholarship fund was
initially established with a gift from Mr. & Mrs. Gerold F.L. Klauer; additional
gifts have been made to the fund by other members of the Klauer family.
The Marian McKenzie Korczowski Memorial NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the friends of Professor Marian Korczowski, a former member of the Georgetown Nursing School faculty. Professor Korczowski taught nutrition and dietetics at Georgetown for 32 years before her retirement in 1986. She received several awards from the University alumni association and the Nursing School and was awarded the University President's Medal in 1978. It is awarded to students in the School of Nursing and Health Studies with
demonstrated financial need for NHS scholarship aid.

The Lawley NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Mrs. Lucille Lawley & Mr. Jack Lawley to
provide assistance to undergraduates in the School of Nursing & Health
Studies who demonstrate financial need for NHS scholarship aid. The
scholarship is awarded to eligible students in NHS who were LPNs before entering
the program but wanted to improve their professional skills and education by
obtaining RN credentials and university degrees. If there are none, then
the scholarship is awarded to nursing majors in NHS.
The Brent Leahey Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mrs. Mary Jo Leahey in memory of her
late grandson Brent Leahey (C'88, L'92) to provide assistance to undergraduates
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Leavey Undergraduate GU Scholarship
Mr. Thomas Leavey, (L'23, H'50) of Los Angeles, California established this scholarship for the benefit of

The Brian McDermott, S.J. GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to undergraduates at Georgetown University
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Bernard McDonough GU Scholarship
Mr. Bernard McDonough of Parkersburg, West Virginia established this scholarship in February of 1975. This gift
was but one of several generous donations through which Mr. McDonough expressed his love for Georgetown and his faith in her future. It
provides assistance to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Francis J. McDonough GU Scholarship in American Studies
This scholarship was established in 2005 to provide assistance to
undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid,
with preference in selection of a recipient to be given to eligible students who

is to be conveyed to every student who receives the McFall scholarship: "Your scholarship award was made possible through the generosity of Jack McFall,
School of Foreign Service Class of 1929, and his wife Martha McFall. The donors' desire is for the fund they established to provide scholarship awards perpetually, and for the awards to benefit an increasing number of students at the School of Foreign Service in future generations. Similarly, Georgetown's long-term goal is to make an education at this university just as feasible for those with modest financial resources as it is for those with substantial resources. Therefore, you are asked, as a recipient of someone else's exemplary generosity, to be generous yourself to an exemplary degree. The late Michael P. Mortara established this scholarship in 1984. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial aid to qualified and eligible students from Litchfield County, Connecticut who are enrolled in the School of Foreign Service who demonstrate financial need

eligible student enrolled in the College have the surname of Murphy and demonstrate financial need, the scholarship
is awarded to any student enrolled in the College who demonstrates financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Grace H. and Jerome S. Murray GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1990 by the Murray's children, Angela M. Althoff and Eileen M. Dillon. The
scholarship benefits an undergraduate student who demonstrates financial need
for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Susanna Myers Overseas Study GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Susanna Myers to provide assistance to undergraduates in Languages & Linguistics at Georgetown College who participate in a Georgetown-sponsored study abroad program. This scholarship was created by the generous gift of an anonymous donor. Scholarships are awarded to students
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who have high academic promise
and are from one of the five boroughs of New York City .
The Lt. Harry A. Noonan Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was founded in 1954 by Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Noonan to help
deserving students attend Georgetown. It is awarded to juniors and seniors in Georgetown College who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

This scholarship was established in 1994 in honor of Rev. Leo J. O'Donovan, S.J.,
former President of Georgetown University, to assist Main Campus undergraduates who demonstrate financial need

The Margaret J. and Leo J., Jr. O'Donovan GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor former Georgetown University President Leo O'Donovan, S.J. The
scholarship was named for Father O'Donovan's parents, to honor him and his service to the University as he departed the Georgetown University presidency in June 2001.
It is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown

The James M. Pierce GU Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded with a preference in selection to undergraduates
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who are from Aroostock County, Maine.
If there are none then the scholarship is awarded to an eligible student from
Maine.
The Thomas J. Piscetta Memorial NHS Scholarship
This fund was established by Joseph (B'71, L'74) and Joanne (N'72) Guarriello in memory of Joanne's brother, Thomas (C'73), who died at age 40 after battling cancer. laude in 1962 from Georgetown with a degree in Economics. He served the
University in many capacities, including numerous terms as a member of the Board
of Directors. Mr. and Mrs. Rossotti are committed to ensuring that higher
education is available to all talented and deserving students, regardless of
socio-economic background. When the fund was established the donors stated: "We have established this fund as a way of sharing our blessings and good fortune with future generations of students who will benefit, as we did, from the best education our country has to offer."

senior attending the College or the McDonough School of Business who
demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid and who best exemplifies
while at Georgetown a balanced pursuit of excellence in both academics and
sports while demonstrating the high moral standards of his/her faith in dealing
with other human beings.
The Catherine Schilling GU Scholarship
The Catherine Schilling Scholarship was established in 1981 by the family
and friends of Ms. Schilling (C'81) in her memory,
to assist students in the College who demonstrate financial need for

The Charles M. Schneider, Jr. Memorial GU Scholarship These scholarships were established in 1984 by bequests in the will of the
late Charles M. Schneider, Jr. (C'48) so that deserving students might attend the undergraduate schools of Georgetown University, who might otherwise not be able to do so. From time to time, friends of Charles M. Schneider, Jr. and income from certain oil and gas interests bequeathed to the University by Mr. Schneider have supplemented the initial bequest. These scholarships are awarded to Georgetown undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

The Lisa Sergio GU Scholarship
The late Lisa Sergio was a writer, lecturer, and broadcaster who lived in the Washington, D.C. area until her death in 1989. In 1937 she fled Italy, her native country, as she grew disenchanted with the Mussolini regime. This scholarship was established through a bequest
in the will of Ms. Lisa Sergio to assist undergraduate students at Georgetown
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The James C. Shannon GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Mr. James C. Shannon, Jr. (C'50) in honor of his father.
It is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid.
The James Francis Shea (F'51) Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Amelia Ketelhon de Shea in memory of her
husband James Francis Shea (F'51) to provide assistance to undergraduates in the

scholarship aid. The fund was established to honor his memory, as someone
"who understood the principles fostered at Georgetown".
The Elaine Sherwood Memorial NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1995 in memory of Elaine Sherwood by her family and friends from the School of Nursing Class of 1968.
It is awarded to deserving students in the School of Nursing and Health Studies who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

This scholarship was established by the late James R. Sprankle, Jr. to

The Students of Hawaii GU Scholarship

in selection given to eligible students from the state of Oregon. The
scholarship fund was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Joseph P. Tennant and family in
memory of Mr. John J. Tennant, Sr., who sent four of his eight children to
Georgetown and was once a member of the GU Board of Regents.
The Jana D. Thompson GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by the Jana D. Thompson Trust and by Mr.
Michael D. Browne in memory of Jana D. Thompson, F'81. Georgetown believes
that study overseas enhances a student's understanding of international affairs,
at the same time that it strengthens language acquisition and deepens
cross-cultural understanding. The scholarship helps defray the cost of
study abroad for an SFS student who demonstrates financial need for Georgetown
scholarship aid, with preference in selection given to an eligible American
woman.
The Patrick N. Thomson GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by Colin Patrick Gordon, C'91 to assist
undergraduates in Georgetown College who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Dr. Pasquale "Pat" Tigani Memorial GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the alumni of the Georgetown Dental School in memory of the first President of the Dental Alumni Leadership Board, Dr. Pasquale "Pat" Tigani, Georgetown Dental Class of 1957. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship assistance
with preference in selection to eligible students who are the children of Georgetown Dental Alumni.
If there are none in a given year then the scholarship is awarded to an eligible
senior undergraduate who plans to pursue a career in health sciences.
The Boris V. Timchenko GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established under the 1969 will of the late Mr. Boris V. Timchenko to provide financial assistance to Georgetown University undergraduates. Under the terms of the will the recipient may not be "a member of any communistic or subversive organization nor an advocate of any such ideas." Awards are made to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Joseph P. Toce (C'73) GU Scholarship
This scholarship provides assistance to undergraduates at Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Virginia B. Toulmin NHS Scholarship
This scholarship was established to support undergraduates in the School of Nursing and Health Studies who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.

The Paul and Nancy Vermylen GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated as a gift in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Paul and Nancy Vermylen by their seven children. Mr. Vermylen
and his six sons are all alumni of Georgetown College. In selecting recipients,
preference is given to undergraduates in the College who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid who are from parochial high schools in Brooklyn, New York;
if none, then to an eligible student from a parochial high school in one of the other New York City
boroughs.

late brother, Sidney, to provide grant assistance to a Georgetown undergraduate

The Wall Street Alliance GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the generous gifts of the members of the Georgetown University Wall Street Alliance. It provides assistance to Georgetown undergraduates with strong academic skills and significant financial need for Georgetown scholarship assistance. Scholarship recipients are invited to attend an annual gala event sponsored by the Alliance
which raises funds for more scholarship awards.
The William F. Wallace GU Scholarship
This scholarship was donated by William F. Wallace (C'61) in 1990 and provides assistance to
full-time students in the College who are from New York City who demonstrate
financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Julia M. Walsh GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the late Julia M. Walsh, founder of the
Julia Walsh & Sons stock brokerage firm, to assist undergraduate women in the McDonough School of Business
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Walton GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled in Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid. The
scholarship fund was donated by the Walton Foundation.
The Wasserman GU Scholarship
This scholarship fund was donated by the Wasserman Foundation of California, to enable students from middle income families to attend and/or continue their studies at
Georgetown. The Foundation was established by the late Mr. Lew R.
Wasserman, longtime president and CEO of MCA/Universal Studios, and his wife,
Edie, as an expression of their intense dedication to charitable giving.
Among their many charitable endeavors, their Foundation established scholarship
funds at six prominent colleges and universities, including Georgetown
University in 1988. Lew R. Wasserman was a recipient of the 1995
Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
At Georgetown these scholarships are awarded to promising and talented students
from middle income families who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Weaver Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist undergraduates in the McDonough School of Business who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The fund was donated by Lance L. Weaver (B'76).
The Werwaiss Family Special Need GU Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial aid to undergraduates in the College who
demonstrate financial need for GU scholarship aid for the first time, or qualify
for an increased amount of GU scholarship aid due to special family
circumstances. The scholarship fund was donated by John (C'64) and Beth
Werwaiss.
The Lettie Pate Whitehead NHS Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to female, Christian, nursing students who are residents of one of the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Williams Family GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Williams family to help students with demonstrated financial need attend Georgetown University. It is
awarded to main campus undergraduates who demonstrate financial need for
Georgetown scholarship aid with preference in selection given to eligible students from the southwestern region of Ohio.
The James R. Williams GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established in December 1986 by William J. Williams in
memory of his brother James. It is awarded to deserving students who qualify for admittance into Georgetown College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid, with preference
in selection to eligible students who live in the greater Cincinnati area.

The Father Gerard Yates GU Scholarship
This scholarship provides grant assistance to students in the College
who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The Ye Domesday Booke GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to an undergraduate student who
demonstrates financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid who edits or contributes to the production of the Georgetown University yearbook. Preference
in selection is given to the editor of the yearbook who has demonstrated financial need.

The Ann and Hans P. Ziegler Third Century GU Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide assistance to undergraduates in the School of Foreign Service who would otherwise find it very difficult or impossible to attend Georgetown University. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need for Georgetown scholarship aid.
The fund was donated by Ann & Hans P. Ziegler through the University's Third
Century Capital fundraising campaign.
