PEP
Preparing to Excel Program
The program
Preparing to Excel, or PEP, is a free pre-orientation program open to 50 first year and transfer students at Georgetown University.
PEP is geared for students who are concerned about coming to a new place and adapting to the challenges of campus life. Many PEP participants are students who are from very distant towns, or perhaps who are the first in their families to attend college, or students who have very high financial need.
PEP is engineered to help students acclimate themselves to the social and academic aspects of Georgetown University. Through a week of activities, events, outings, panels, and workshops, PEP gives students the head start they need to not just survive at Georgetown, but thrive.
PEP seeks to integrate new students into the entire university community, both academically and socially, in order to provide them with a foundation for success in their time on the Hilltop. Between making friends, establishing important contacts, and becoming more comfortable with Georgetown University, PEP allows new students to excel.
PEP: 2011
PEP: 2011 was held August 22nd-August 26th. Housing and meals were provided for all participants. 50 incoming students and 20 upperclassmen mentors participated in this year's program.
